I built a set for shooting which consists of various building material surfaces, civil engineering constructions, and mass-produced containers we see in our daily life. Using different camera work, I shot the set as you walk around there. Various pieces of a reality were scattered throughout the set. By shooting the scenes where they were unreasonably and suddenly connected, I intended to capture the moment when the reality appears in front of us.
The theme of this work is locations of something shown in TV news programs which deliver news such as traffic accidents or murder. Text is usually superimposed on the news programs, which explains the overview of the accidents or the cases. However, in this work, no text is supervised on the images. The images of the locations of something, which has lost the explanation, are displayed on the screen one after another. What surrounds us? The roads and the buildings have lost their meaning and the consecutive surfaces of them visualize our bare reality.
In the evening, you can see a lot of people running around the Imperial Palace so-called "Kokyo Run". When I shot them in the dark with flash, their reflective running gears were reflected by flash. The reflection of light synchronized with a light rhythm of Japanese drum highlights the scene where "Kokyo Run", a large group of running people in the dark, is distorted and goes overboard.
